Inherited jewelry rarely fits the life it lands in. The taste was hers; the sentiment is yours — and so the pieces sit in a drawer, too meaningful to part with but not quite wearable. Heirloom jewelry redesign is my favorite way to solve that: her stones and her gold, remade into something you'll reach for every day.

I meet a lot of people who feel quietly guilty in both directions — guilty that grandma's ring never leaves the box, and guilty at the thought of changing it. So let me say this plainly: transforming a piece isn't letting go of the person. It's the opposite. The stones she chose and the gold she wore stay right there on your hand — the sentiment doesn't disappear, it just moves into a form you can carry with you. And if some pieces should stay exactly as they are, I'll be the first to tell you so.

WHAT CAN INHERITED JEWELRY BECOME?

• A grandmother's or mother's ring — reset into a ring that fits your style, or turned into a necklace you'll wear daily.
• A brooch or earrings you'd never wear — their stones become studs, a pendant, or accents in a new design.

CAN I REDESIGN MY GRANDMOTHER'S RING?

Yes — and please don't worry that it's somehow disrespectful. In my experience it's the drawer that ends a story, not the redesign. Jewelry is meant to be worn; she wore hers. When her diamond is on your finger in a setting that's unmistakably you, people ask about it — and you get to tell them about her. That's how heirlooms are supposed to work.

The process is simple, and there's no cost to begin the conversation. Send me a few clear photos of the pieces you've inherited, along with any inspiration images — reference photos of jewelry you love give me a sense of your style and the direction you'd like to explore.

From there, we'll design together. It's a collaborative, genuinely fun process — we'll work through style, stones, metals, shape, and scale until we arrive at something that feels exactly right. Everything can be done remotely with insured, tracked shipping, and every piece is handled in my studio by exactly one person: me.

WHAT DOES HEIRLOOM REDESIGN COST?

Usually much less than people expect, because the most valuable parts — the stones and the gold — are already yours. It helps to have a comfortable ballpark budget in mind; I work backward from it, and there are many creative ways to tailor a design so it fits both the look you want and the price that feels right.
